Welcome to the part of the site where you’ll find a small collection of my short stories and flash fiction.
For now I’m just posting old stuff on here, much of which has already appeared elsewhere on the interwebs, but eventually I’m hoping to be able to start posting new works.
To read an individual story please click on the Read More link next to each story, and please do feel free to leave feedback if the urge so takes you.
You may also download selected stories as ebooks for use with most eReader devices and software. Use the links provided to download the stories in either ePub format (compatible with most readers except the Kindle) or in mobi format (compatible with the Kindle). Once you’ve downloaded the files please refer to your particular eReader’s instructions to add them to your library.
The Love of Jarvey Quince – A tale of love at a tender age. This one was written for a BBC Radio competition and managed to earn me a runners’ up prize. (c) 1993
And The Wind Whispered, “Why?” – This is a short story about murder and revenge, originally written for an A-Level English Literature course. (c) 1991, 1994
Tyra – I originally wrote this piece of flash fiction as a character introduction for a fantasy role-playing game I used to run. though at some point I may expand on it and use it as the starting point for something larger. (c) 2004
Faerie Dreams – This slightly whimsical, slightly creepy tale of the nighttime activities of the fae folk was originally written as a treat for an old writer friend. It’s one of only a handful of attempts I’ve made at writing something erotic and is a personal favourite. (c) 2004
Homecoming Blues – This one was written as a response to a story by a friend, and was influenced to some degree by my plans to jet off and spend six months in Australia. (c) 2005
The Girl in the Long Dress – I wrote this one during a short period of experimentation and if I’m being honest I have mixed thoughts about whether or not I’m happy with the results. Most of time I am. (c) 2005
A Question of Faith – This was a response to a series of news articles about the upsurge in the teaching of Creationism in American schools. (c) 2005
Shadowman: Burning Skies – This is the original version of the first Shadowman story, and as such introduces the characters of Mitch Edwards (The Shadowman) and Tara Brannigan. Future Shadowman stories will follow… (c) 2005
Paperback Writer – This is a story I wrote as an entry for a monthly writers’ group challenge. The challenge that month was to write a story based on the Beatles song of the same title, with a target word count of a thousand words. I was over the moon when I found out that my piece had been selected as the winning entry. (c) 2006
