There Are Changes A-Coming

Hi all.

This is just a brief update to let you all know that I am still here, and that there are going to be some changes made to the site over the next few weeks.

The biggest change will be a move away from my (obviously) abandoned aims of making something out of my writing. That isn’t to say I’m going to be completely giving up on the writing thing, but I’ve realised it’s finally time to admit that I’m not going to be the bestselling author I’ve long dreamed of being. No more promises of books to be released, no more of me waffling on about projects I only ever half-finish, and no more talk of my dreams of authorial superstardom. Instead, I’m only ever going to post about my writing as and when I actually have something positive and useful to say.

(For the record, I do still plan on adding to my Art of Writing series, but this will be taking even more of a back seat than before.)

Instead of getting myself all depressed and worked up about not being able to actual writing done, I will be adding a couple of new strands to the many-threaded nature of this website.

Starting this weekend I’ll be introducing a new category of posts related to my recently rekindled love of tabletop wargaming and painting of tiny miniatures. Eagle-eyed visitors will have already noticed the addition of a Galleries tab on the top menu (if you’re here on a desktop browser), and it’s here where you’ll find some examples of the miniatures I’ve painted in the past. Over the coming weeks and months I’m going to be adding more pictures to that gallery of things I’m currently working on, and eventually I will also add in some articles about my personal wargaming history and possibly even some battle reports if I can get a couple of half-decent armies together. More on this subject in my next post, but for now, here’s a picture of some 15mm British Line Infantry I recently finished painting.

I’ll also be getting on top of my book reviews. I’m now about a gazillion months behind on writing up reviews of the books I’ve been reading, and there’s a small part of me that’s thinking it might be easier to ignore the ones I’ve missed since Plague Nation and just focus on reviewing new books as I finish them. I’ll make a final decision on how I’m going to deal with the gap at a later date, but for now, if you want to suggest something for me to read then feel free to let me know in the comments section.

There may also be other changes on the cards (including perhaps a change of theme for the site as a whole, though that’s only a slight possibility right now), but I’ll let you know about these as and when I make any sort of decision.

Anyway, what was meant as a small update has now become a bit of a wall-of-text so I’ll stop now, and let you get back to your day.

Thanks for reading.
